Coinbase announced that its NFT marketplace is now entering the beta testing phase. The marketplace was already announced back in October. “Starting today, anyone can try the first version of Coinbase NFT at nft.coinbase.com and explore the vast collection of NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain,” the company said in a statement.
The Coinbase NFT marketplace is a peer-to-peer network “that will make minting, purchasing, showcasing, and discovering NFTs easier than ever”, the company states on their blog. Sofar buying NFTs is not straight forward and can be complicated, Coinbase wants to change that by making the process easier and more user friendly.
The beta version is initially available to a small group of testers who were able to qualify for it via a waiting list. The first screenshots Coinbase is sharing of its new NFT marketplace look like a cross between Instagram and Opensea, the world’s largest NFT marketplace. The functions are also said to be similar. By adding social features, the company thinks that it will open new avenues for conversation and discovery for their userbase.
Users can present their collected NFTs in personal profiles. It is also possible to connect other wallets like Metamask to the Coinbase marketplace. There is also the option to follow other profiles, write comments or vote other people’s comments up or down, just like in the major social networks.
